Pretty much every painter I know has a different approach. At least, for what I use it to do, it is. Just take time to acclimatize yourself with the program and how it does things, which I don't think is unintuitive at all it's different to Photoshop, but I honestly think it's far superior in every way that counts. Clip Studio Paint does the best job with media that I've seen on pretty much any program I've used. I recommend reading and developing, honestly, based on your own stylistic leanings and techniques. Last but not least, if you're interested in some different brushes, check out the Frenden brush pack, which has some really fantastic tools, some I'd even call indispensable! Since brushes are super-easy to add to Manga Studio 5/Clip Studio Paint, I'm sure you'll have no trouble and these new tools are really fantastic with the program. Watch all of the Clip Studio Paint/Manga Studio 5 tutorial videos by Doug Hill, because they'll give you a great command of the program! It also has the ability to reset all the tool settings to what they were at the start, which makes it a lot easier and less stressful to just play to your heart's content with settings! Don't be afraid to experiment with pressure levels, technique, and more - it's the one thing that really opened up my ability with paint, such as it is! I also recommend tweaking the brushes to what you are more comfortable with. I've watched countless ones that turned up with those searches! Do some searches for Clip Studio Paint and speedpaint, or tutorial, or process.

Here is an image of Spawn that I drew in the Procreate app and then added my custom Chains Brush in Clip Studio Paint. Or my latest brush… Spider-Webs! I draw Spider-man a lot so with will save me years of webbing! ? Spider-Web Brush by RAM Things like Chain Links but with a comic style line art applied to them. The new brushes that I just added are focused on repetitive patterns or “Ribbon Effects”. Brick patters, cross-hatching, hair and fur, power effects, and the list goes on. Then I realized that I could create all sorts of time saving effects. They are the “RAM – Manga Studio 5 / Clip Studio Paint – Inking Set” and “Clip Studio Paint – Manga Studio 5 – Digital Painting Brush Pack.” I started by creating Inking Brushes for Comics. I have two primary sets for Clip Studio Paint / Manga Studio 5. As well as controling the two primary colors with the Foreground and Background swatches.

It is the absolute best on the market so far. I started in Photoshop about 15 years ago but quickly feel in love with Clip Studio Paint’s brush engine. I have been creating brushes for years now. If nothing else, they are just plain fun to use! Are you a fan of custom brushes for Clip Studio Paint? I know I am! They save a ton of time and can really open up some new ideas when utilizing them.
